New Delhi, July 5 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday revealed a significant upgrade in the financial powers of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), enabling the water and sewage authority to autonomously sanction and execute initiatives aimed at Yamuna cleaning, sewage treatment, and the establishment of new drinking water infrastructure.
Describing this decision as a manifestation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principle of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’, CM Gupta stated on X, “Today marks a historic milestone as the Delhi government has conferred genuine authority upon the DJB to make decisions and fulfill responsibilities.”
She emphasized, “This organization has now truly attained autonomy and efficiency. The DJB will be able to independently sanction and execute all projects linked to the cleaning of the Yamuna, the treatment of drains, and the development of drinking water systems.”
The Chief Minister pointed out that the DJB will no longer be required to wait for Cabinet approval for projects costing crores of rupees.
This move to augment the Board’s financial authority is not merely an administrative update but a groundbreaking step towards achieving a more efficient, responsive, and outcome-focused governance, she stated.
“This will bolster decision-making capabilities at all levels, minimize delays in operations, and enhance transparency and accountability within the system. This initiative marks a robust beginning to actualizing Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ in Delhi,” she posted on X.
Earlier on the same day, the CM inaugurated and surveyed several critical development projects within the Pitampura region of the Shalimar Bagh Assembly Constituency, with the total estimated expenditure for these projects exceeding Rs 2 crore.
In addressing the local residents, the CM reiterated that her government’s goal extends beyond mere construction; it aims to enhance the quality of life for every citizen through impactful development.
She further added that the ongoing infrastructure improvements throughout Delhi represent a significant stride towards realizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Dilli’.
The Chief Minister inaugurated new roads and drainage systems in the LP Block, Pitampura. Subsequently, she inaugurated seven newly constructed roads and drainage systems in CP Block.
During her inspection of the BU Block, she reviewed the construction of a new sewer line and inaugurated several essential infrastructure initiatives, such as the installation of 52 new streetlight poles in the park and the establishment of a new drainage channel.
While visiting the project sites, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that all tasks are completed within set timelines, adhering to high standards of transparency and quality.
