New Delhi, Nov 15 (NationPress) - On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a new online platform designed for the seamless renewal of Fire Safety Certificates.
She referred to this initiative as a significant step towards fostering a transparent and technology-oriented governance framework, stating that it will significantly enhance the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the capital.
The Chief Minister unveiled the Portal for Online Renewal of Fire Safety Certificate at the Delhi Secretariat, accompanied by Delhi’s Home and Education Minister, Ashish Sood, as well as senior officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).
According to an official announcement, the portal has been collaboratively developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Delhi Government, fundamentally modernizing and streamlining the fire safety renewal process.
Over the last eight months, the Delhi government has enacted numerous pioneering reforms benefiting businesses, citizens, and institutions citywide, the Chief Minister noted.
She explained that processes related to fire permits, licensing, and other statutory approvals have been simplified, made more transparent, and integrated through a single-window mechanism.
Previously, multiple agencies were involved, leading to procedural delays and inconveniences. Now, clear accountability has been established, with the final certificate's issuance resting with the designated authority.
To guarantee maximum transparency, the Chief Minister highlighted that departmental file processing has been fully digitized.
Citizens can now monitor the real-time status of their applications, including information about the officer handling the file, duration of pendency, and the current stage of scrutiny.
She described the new renewal portal as a major administrative reform, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Digital India' is elevating governance across the country.
In line with this vision, the Delhi government is dedicated to creating a ‘Digital Delhi’, where services are faceless, transparent, and driven by technology.
Emphasizing the ease of digital adoption, even among small vendors and rickshaw pullers, she remarked that the governance system must advance alongside to remain citizen-friendly and modern. CM Gupta reiterated that citizen safety, streamlined services, and transparent administration are the government's top priorities.
On this occasion, Delhi’s Home Minister Ashish Sood stated that under PM Modi's leadership, the nation is advancing with the principle of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.”
The aim is to make governance simpler, more efficient, and empowering for citizens.
He mentioned that the new portal embodies this vision by facilitating hassle-free and transparent renewal of Fire Clearance Certificates for both residential and commercial establishments upon the expiration of their three-year (commercial) or five-year (residential) validity.
