New Delhi, July 4 (NationPress) In an effort to promote transparency and a people-centric approach to governance, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially opened the 'Jan Seva Sadan' at her home in the heart of the national capital.
This initiative is designed to address women's issues directly and enhance public accessibility to governance.
The inauguration commenced with traditional ceremonies, as CM Gupta carried a 'kalash' into the Jan Seva Sadan before lighting a ceremonial lamp.
During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Verma remarked, "This Jan Seva Sadan signifies a type of leadership from a Chief Minister that has not been witnessed in Delhi before—one who engages with the public, listens to their issues, and strives for solutions. Unlike the extravagant 'Sheesh Mahal' erected at a cost exceeding Rs 100 crore, this office embodies the essence of public service and welfare."
Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa praised the initiative, contrasting current leadership with past styles. He stated, "Jan Seva Sadan is committed to public service. Our Chief Minister lives with simplicity, and her official residence is now open to the public. Anyone, including government officials, can meet her here. Today, thousands have gathered, unlike the previous regime's Sheesh Mahals, where even ministers or MLAs were often barred entry. If an official attempted to enter, they faced repercussions in secrecy. This highlights a significant shift in mindset."
Minister Kapil Mishra emphasized the transparency of the current administration, criticizing prior governance by saying, "Jan Seva Sadan is being dedicated to the public today, and I challenge anyone to present evidence from the last 11 years showing cameras were permitted inside the CM’s residence or office. Did Kejriwal ever facilitate that? No MLA could enter, let alone the public."
Echoing this sentiment, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari declared that the initiative embodies a genuine commitment to public service: "Today, Jan Seva Sadan—officially the Chief Minister's residence—symbolizes a spirit of service. The people of Delhi resonate with this sentiment because our aim is seva, or service."
The Jan Seva Sadan will function as a consistent platform for citizens to relay their grievances directly to the government.
With significant crowds already attending, the administration has pledged regular sessions, ensuring follow-ups and accountability, marking what many view as a new chapter in Delhi’s governance.
