New Delhi, Feb 22 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Saturday, while her Cabinet ministers took to the streets to assess the repairs of pothole-ridden roads and to review ongoing projects throughout the city.
During her discussion with PM Modi, CM Gupta expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to serve as Chief Minister, representing the women of the city, according to one of her aides.
Before heading to the PM’s residence, CM Gupta greeted her supporters from the balcony of her home in Shalimar Bagh.
Using a public address system, CM Gupta shared her intention to express, on behalf of all women in the city, appreciation for selecting a “Daughter of Delhi” to lead.
“On my very first day in office, we endorsed the Ayushman Bharat scheme initiated by PM Modi,” she stated, vowing to make the most of her time in office to serve the community.
“Our goal is to realize Viksit Delhi as envisioned by PM Modi,” she declared.
“The journey towards Viksit Delhi must be a collective effort,” she concluded her address with slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister convened a session with officials from the PWD department to enhance infrastructure, discussing concerns regarding dug-up roads, damaged roads, and traffic issues in Delhi, and provided directives for necessary improvements.
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma reviewed the Barapullah Phase-3 project, ensuring prompt payment and environmental clearance, addressing claims of delayed progress.
Speaking to reporters near Sarai Kale Khan in South East Delhi, Verma emphasized that he had issued strict orders to eliminate encroachments along Delhi roads. “We want road contractors to commit to a 10-year lifespan for roads to minimize the need for frequent resurfacing,” he mentioned.
During another field inspection at Khajuri Khas crossing in North East Delhi, Law and Labour Minister Kapil Mishra remarked that Arvind Kejriwal's government has deteriorated the condition of roads in Delhi. “Everywhere, the roads are broken or dusty, filled with potholes and suffer from waterlogging. Under this new work culture, all Cabinet ministers and officials will be required to work tirelessly and promptly repair the roads.”
