New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) In a significant gesture, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched 52 trucks filled with relief supplies aimed at assisting those affected by floods in Punjab. She affirmed on Sunday that the Delhi Government is dedicated to alleviating their suffering and providing all possible support.
Gupta highlighted that the supplies symbolize the love and solidarity of the people of Delhi extended to their counterparts in Punjab.
The trucks are loaded with essential items including food grains, drinking water, clothing, tarpaulins, medicines, sanitary kits, milk powder for children, and various other daily necessities.
The Delhi Government mobilized efforts to collect and pack these relief materials swiftly, ensuring that aid reaches the impacted regions as soon as possible.
Moreover, the Chief Minister conveyed that, alongside the relief supplies, the Delhi government has allocated Rs 5 crore to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
She noted that Delhi and Punjab share not just geographical proximity but also deep emotional and cultural connections. The nation embodies the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family.
In a post on X, she remarked, “Delhi has dispatched 52 trucks filled with relief materials for its brothers and sisters in Punjab. The fragrance of Punjab's soil is deeply ingrained in Delhi's veins. We are one family, and in times of crisis, Delhi stands united with Punjab.”
Gupta expressed her sincere gratitude to all ministers, officials, and volunteers who facilitated the arrangement of necessary supplies in such a short timeframe. She also communicated with Punjab's Chief Minister Shri @BhagwantMann, assuring him that Delhi is prepared to offer every possible assistance during this challenging period.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that the organization’s commitment to service is evident in their action to send relief items to Punjab, which is in urgent need.
“This is not a mere favor but an act of humanity to support those in distress. The BJP organization embodies this principle. Our Chief Minister has contributed Rs 5 crore to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Fund,” he mentioned.
Sachdeva added that discussions with the residents of Punjab revealed that while food supplies are available, resources for preparation and storage are lacking.
“Thus, alongside utensils, we are dispatching mosquito nets, blankets, tarpaulins, medicines, shoes, slippers, and various other essential items today. This is our contribution to the people of Punjab, who are not only the nation’s food providers but also its border guardians,” he stated.
“These trucks will be headed to Jalandhar and from there, the goods will be distributed to the areas in need,” he concluded.
