New Delhi, Nov 13 (NationPress) On Thursday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a new inter-state electric bus route operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), connecting the Kashmere Gate Bus Terminal to the Sonipat Bus Stand.

This new service is a pivotal move aimed at enhancing public transportation within the NCR and boosting DTC's financial performance, according to an official announcement.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the newly launched electric buses come with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and GPS systems.

During the ceremony at the Maharana Pratap Inter-State Bus Terminal, the Chief Minister, along with Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, flagged off three electric buses destined for Sonipat.

Previously, during the celebrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, the Chief Minister had launched the first inter-state electric bus service from Delhi to Baraut, as stated by an official.

In her speech, the Chief Minister mentioned that the Delhi government is committed to reviving inter-state bus services to NCR cities that were halted years ago.

This initiative is expected to provide residents with accessible public transport, alleviate traffic congestion, and contribute to pollution reduction.

“These buses will ensure safer and more comfortable travel for passengers and will run regularly on the Delhi-Sonipat route, promoting seamless connectivity between both cities,” she stated.

She emphasized that this initiative will not only improve mobility but will also play a significant role in environmental conservation.

“Strengthening interconnectivity with neighboring states is a priority for our government. With the support and trust of the public, the Delhi Government remains dedicated to enhancing public transport and offering better and safer travel options,” she added.

Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh noted that the discontinuation of inter-state bus services had adversely affected connectivity between Delhi and the NCR.

“This initiative revives that essential link through clean, zero-emission electric buses. It will enhance regional connectivity, lower pollution levels, and provide passengers with a safer, more comfortable travel option. We plan to extend such services to additional cities around Delhi to make public transport even greener and more efficient,” he explained.

For passenger convenience, there will be a total of six daily trips, with three operating in each direction. Buses from Delhi to Sonipat will depart at 4:45 AM, 5:15 AM, 5:45 AM, 4:45 PM, 5:15 PM, and 5:45 PM. From Sonipat to Delhi, buses will operate at 7:10 AM, 7:25 AM, 8:10 AM, 7:30 PM, 8:00 PM, and 8:30 PM.

The route will serve several key areas in Delhi and Haryana, including GTB Nagar, Azadpur Terminal, Jahangirpuri Metro Station, Mukarba Chowk, Alipur, Delhi-Singhu Border, Kundli Industrial Area, TDI City, Nangal Mor, Rai, Bahalgarh, and Fazilpur, concluding at the Sonipat Bus Stand.
