New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) Celebrating her inaugural month in office, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the former AAP government for deteriorating the city’s essential services and infrastructure. She assured citizens of relief, even as she must begin from ‘level zero’ to reconstruct a Viksit Delhi.
A post shared on the official social media account of the Chief Minister's Office stated: “Due to the shortcomings of past administrations, Delhi is in dire need of basic amenities. She reaffirmed her commitment to driving development in Delhi under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While addressing an event, she noted that the Delhi government had to commence from level zero to restore the fundamental infrastructure in a city overwhelmed by heaps of waste.
She expressed disappointment over the inadequate performance of previous administrations that left Delhi in a condition where concerns about sanitation and cleanliness are prevalent, making it one of the most polluted cities globally.
“The Yamuna is pleading for restoration, and the heaps of garbage remain unaddressed,” she remarked.
Proposing a united front for revamping and enhancing infrastructure in the national capital, she emphasized that collective action and public engagement were crucial for realizing the goal of a Viksit Delhi.
In her uniquely poetic way, CM Gupta recited a couplet: “There will be no delays in decision-making due to lack of intent, and no one will benefit if everyone focuses solely on their own interests.”
During her first month, the CM has toured hospitals to enhance health services, initiated plans to redevelop the reclaimed Bhalswa landfill site with a bamboo forest, advocated for desilting three major south Delhi drains that flow into the Yamuna to prevent waterlogging, and called for improvements at the Asha Kiran shelter home.
In her inaugural Cabinet meeting on February 20, CM Gupta approved a 100-day plan, resolved to clean the Yamuna and develop the riverfront, agreed to present pending CAG reports in the Assembly, and sanctioned the implementation of the Central-government funded Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), which provides health coverage for each family.
CM Gupta, the sole female head of government among 16 BJP-led states, asserted that Arvind Kejriwal would be held accountable for “every penny” misused during his administration as the Cabinet took steps to reveal corruption within the previous AAP government.
