Delhi Police bust sex racket in Paharganj, four women rescued
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Central District Police on 12 June 2026 busted an alleged sex racket operating out of Saran Building on Qutub Road in Delhi's Paharganj area, rescuing four women and arresting one accused. The operation, carried out by a team from Nabi Karim Police Station, followed a tip-off received the previous evening.
How the Operation Unfolded
According to police, a secret informer approached the Station House Officer (SHO) of Nabi Karim Police Station on 11 June at around 7:30 pm, providing specific information about an alleged racket being run from a building in the Qutub Road area. A dedicated raiding team was swiftly assembled, comprising SI Harsh, W/SI Shruti, Head Constables Sunil Adhana and Vikash, Constables Dhansi and Feru, and W/Ct. Nishu, under the SHO's supervision.
As part of the verification process, Constable Feru was deployed as a decoy customer. Once the allegations were confirmed, the team moved in and conducted the raid, successfully dismantling the alleged operation.
Who Was Arrested and Charged
The arrested accused has been identified as Shahrukh, 29, a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Delhi. He is alleged to have been running the illegal activity from the premises. Separately, legal proceedings were initiated against Harikishan alias Raju Champion, 58, a resident of Dwarka, who is the owner of the rented premises where the alleged racket was operating.
FIR No. 274/26, dated 12 June, was registered against Shahrukh under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITP Act). A separate FIR No. 275/26 was filed against the premises owner under Section 223A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Women Rescued, Identities Protected
Four women — aged 31, 25, 20, and 34 years — were rescued during the raid. Police have withheld their identities to protect their privacy. The women are being provided appropriate support as investigations continue.
Investigation Status
Investigators have seized relevant evidence from the premises and are interrogating the arrested accused to determine the full extent of the network and identify any other individuals involved. Police are also verifying Shahrukh's prior criminal record. According to officials, the probe is ongoing to uncover all persons connected with the alleged illegal activity and establish the complete facts of the case.
This comes amid sustained enforcement drives by Delhi Police's Central District against organised illegal activities in the Paharganj area, a densely populated commercial and residential neighbourhood that has historically posed policing challenges.
