Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) In a significant operation against organized crime, the Delhi Police has dismantled a human trafficking and illegal prostitution network operating in the S.N. Marg area of Central Delhi, successfully rescuing eight women, including a minor. The authorities seized cash, foreign currency, drugs, and liquor during the raid.
Police officials reported that the operation was executed late on Wednesday at a site in Ajmeri Gate, following a precise and sensitive tip-off regarding ongoing trafficking activities.
Swift action was taken by a specialized team led by ACP Rinchen Ongmu Bhutia and W/SI Kiran Sethi, with support from the Crime Team, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts, and NGO representatives.
Upon entering the premises, officers discovered multiple individuals. Verification confirmed that the location was being utilized for organized, immoral trafficking and prostitution.
Among the rescued were eight women, including a 17-year-old minor who disclosed her trafficking from West Bengal. She reported being brought to Delhi by a woman known as Alia alias Pinki, who subsequently handed her over to a couple, Kumari and Rahul, accused of running the illicit operation.
The minor further identified two men, Gopi Ram Parihar alias Suraj and Luma Kant Pandey alias Motu, who were allegedly managing the financial transactions and client facilitation.
Additionally, police rescued seven other women, some of whom were reportedly concealed in cramped spaces within the premises, suggesting attempts to avoid detection.
During the raid, police recovered significant incriminating evidence, including cash totaling Rs 1.97 lakh, $118, Nepalese currency, and other foreign funds. They also seized 33 grams of ganja, used and unused condoms, gauze cloth speculated to contain semen stains, and transaction records.
Other items found at the scene included colored round tokens, two knives, medicine, eight diaries, and a large stash of liquor consisting of 264 bottles and 478 cans of beer.
Two suspects, Parihar (36) and Pandey (41), both from Nepal, have been arrested in connection with this case. Meanwhile, key suspects Kumari and her husband Rahul are currently evading arrest, with efforts ongoing to locate and apprehend them.
Police officials have filed multiple FIRs under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the Excise Act.
Authorities indicated that the scale and nature of the recovered items suggest a well-organized interstate trafficking network involving victims from West Bengal, Assam, and Nepal. Investigations are ongoing to identify additional members of the syndicate and uncover the full breadth of the operation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District, Rohit Rajbir Singh, stated that efforts are continuing to rescue more victims and dismantle the extensive trafficking network in the region.
