New Delhi, June 21 (NationPress) A squad from the Crime Branch’s Western Range-II has successfully apprehended a 26-year-old fugitive connected to a dramatic robbery of Rs 10 lakh in South Rohini, Delhi.
The suspect, known as Rahul, the son of the late Ramesh, hails from Rithala, Delhi. He was caught near D-Mall in Sector 3, Rohini, on Thursday evening.
The incident took place on May 21, 2025, when Kuldeep Kumar, an employee at a chartered accountant firm, was on his way back to the office after collecting Rs 10 lakh in cash from a trading company located in Avantika Market. As he approached Maharaja Agrasen Marg near Sector 3, two men on a motorcycle blocked his path, snatched his bag containing the cash, and sped away.
According to the Delhi Police, during the course of the investigation, officers reviewed CCTV footage from the area where the victim was robbed. The footage revealed that a second motorcycle, carrying three additional suspects, was following the victim closely behind the two main assailants.
"The motorcycle used in the heist was registered to a resident of Rithala village. The primary assailants identified were Jatin Tiwari and Rahul, both from Rithala. Rahul was riding the motorcycle while Jatin snatched the bag," stated a spokesperson from the Delhi Police.
Local authorities have arrested six individuals: Jatin Tiwari alias Langda (22), Yogender Singh alias Raja (21), Arslan Pathan (19), Prince alias Lallu (18), Kapil Patel (25), and Piyush Singh Adhikari (22).
The principal suspects were identified as Rahul and Jatin Tiwari alias Langda, with Rahul operating the motorcycle and Jatin executing the theft.
After receiving a tip-off, a Crime Branch team, led by SI Anuj Chhikara and SI Ravinder, under the oversight of Insp Gautam Malik and the overall direction of ACP Rajpal Dabas and DCP Harsh Indora, set up a trap near D-Mall. Rahul attempted to escape but was pursued and subdued by Constable Manoj and the raiding team.
During questioning, Rahul admitted to his involvement in the robbery, revealing that he was the one who drove the getaway motorcycle while Jatin snatched the cash.
"After the robbery, as they fled, their motorcycle fell on the road. They attempted to escape on foot. Jatin Tiwari alias Langda handed the bag over to Prince alias Lallu, who was on the second motorcycle with two other accomplices. Following this, Rahul escaped and continuously changed his location to avoid capture," added the statement.
