Delhi Elections: Central Government Takes Action Against Unreported Cash and Bullion

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) In a proactive measure to guarantee transparent and fair Delhi Assembly elections, the Income Tax Department has launched a 24x7 control room along with a toll-free number aimed at overseeing the movement of unreported cash, bullion, and other valuables.
To support the Election Commission of India (ECI) in fighting against the influence of black money in elections, the Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation), Delhi has implemented various measures to monitor the movement of unaccounted cash, bullion, and additional valuables that may be used for electoral purposes during the Model Code of Conduct in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
As part of these initiatives, the Directorate has established a 24x7 control room at Civic Centre, New Delhi, and has provided a toll-free number (1800111309) for the public to report any suspicious activity involving cash, bullion, precious metals, etc.
“Citizens can reach out to the toll-free number without needing to share personal information like their name or other identifying details. The key is for the information provided to be credible and actionable,” stated the I-T Department.
The Control Room will remain operational throughout the entire duration of the Model Code of Conduct in Delhi—from the announcement of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Elections 2025 until their completion.
“In the spirit of conducting free and fair elections, we urge citizens to assist by sharing pertinent information with the Directorate through the provided contact numbers, regarding the NCT of Delhi. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential,” the Department emphasized.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) disclosed on Tuesday that voting for the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly will take place on February 5, with results set to be announced on February 8.
