Delhi Elections: Gopal Rai Unveils AAP's Decadal Progress Report for Babarpur Assembly

New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) Delhi Environment Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai on Saturday revealed the 10-year progress report for the Babarpur Assembly constituency, showcasing the extensive developmental initiatives implemented by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Gopal Rai, a two-time representative from the Babarpur Assembly seat in the Shahdara district of the city, emphasized that the report, titled 'Kaamo ka Report Card', will be distributed to every household in Babarpur, detailing the initiatives he has spearheaded over the past decade.
In an interview with IANS, Rai articulated how Babarpur, once deemed one of the most underdeveloped constituencies, has experienced remarkable growth.
"Historically, the political discourse in this area was dominated by communal issues, neglecting development. We focused on essential services in the initial five years—constructing roads, ensuring water supply, and establishing sewerage systems," he explained, noting that over 900 roads and lanes have been developed, with only 10 percent of the work remaining.
He pointed out infrastructure enhancements, such as the replacement of outdated cement pipelines with modern alternatives, servicing 90 percent of the area. To improve safety, a network of CCTV cameras and streetlights were installed, eliminating dark spots throughout the constituency.
Rai highlighted that Babarpur now features 16 operational Mohalla Clinics, benefiting countless residents. Educational facilities have seen upgrades, including the modernization of schools, a library, and a laboratory, with plans for new institutions underway.
"The health infrastructure has also seen advancements with the establishment of a mini-hospital, providing specialized care from 10 doctors associated with Zee TV Hospital," he added.
"Community amenities have expanded, featuring an open space for weddings with a capacity of 1,500 and a modern auditorium under construction in northeast Delhi for various events. Additionally, a mini-stadium has been inaugurated to encourage sports among the youth," Rai remarked.
Rai mentioned that AAP's governance approach emphasizes community involvement.
"Before we present the budget, we conduct meetings in every locality to gauge the people's needs. Our action plans are built upon their feedback," he noted.
In a critique of the BJP, Rai stated, "The BJP governs 20 states yet has failed to deliver. Instead of focusing on their responsibilities, they devote their efforts to disparaging AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. The residents of Delhi want a government that performs, which is why they support AAP."
He also dismissed Congress as a serious contender in Delhi.
"Congress lacks a single MLA in Delhi. While the INDIA bloc is united, it is evident that only AAP can lead this coalition to success in Delhi," he remarked.
With the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5, and the vote counting set for February 8, AAP is striving for a third consecutive term after its overwhelming victories in 2015 and 2020.
Meanwhile, Congress is attempting to regain its footing, and the BJP is working to challenge AAP's dominance in the national capital.
