New Delhi, May 23 (NationPress) The Environment Department of the Delhi government is set to introduce GPS-enabled hydraulic anti-smog gun vehicles outfitted with water sprinklers to combat air pollution in industrial zones, announced Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Friday.
Sirsa elaborated that this initiative, developed in collaboration with the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), will incorporate eight CNG-powered trucks that feature sophisticated anti-smog guns. These guns can spray mist over a horizontal distance of 30 meters and have a rotation capability of 330 degrees.
This approach aims to provide extensive coverage and effectively diminish airborne pollutants within all industrial sectors, he stated.
“Our government is dedicated to fostering industrial advancement while safeguarding the environment. We are implementing tangible measures to reduce industrial waste and enhance infrastructure,” stated Sirsa.
He noted that DSIIDC has already successfully utilized water sprinklers and anti-smog guns in the Bawana and Narela Industrial Areas to effectively alleviate air pollution.
Sirsa mentioned that the sprinklers will operate in two shifts: an early morning shift and a four-hour shift during non-peak afternoon hours.
This initiative has been launched following the directive from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The procurement process for the GPS-enabled anti-smog gun vehicles has concluded successfully, and the government is poised to deploy these vehicles across industrial regions to effectively address air pollution.
The new smog guns will be stationed in Patparganj, Okhla Phase-III, A Block and S Block Phase-II, Jhilmil, Nangloi, Udyog Vihar, Badli, and Bhorgarh industrial areas starting in June 2025.
Additionally, two extra vehicles will be designated for industrial zones managed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), he added.
The trucks are equipped with horizontal sprinklers that cover their width to simultaneously spray water on roads, utilizing a minimum of 1,500 liters of water per hour.
