New Delhi, July 14 (NationPress) - Delhi's Home Minister Ashish Sood convened a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday to discuss the critical issues related to the rehabilitation, safety, and welfare of the displaced Kashmiri Hindu community.
After the meeting, Sood remarked, “The previous administrations’ treatment of the Kashmiri Hindu community was well known. Their neglect, often approaching hostility, was marked by a lack of response to the community’s suffering and years of inaction.”
He pointed out that the ridicule directed at the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ by officials from prior governments was a blatant indication of their antagonism towards Kashmiri Hindus.
Sood noted, “Since 1990, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has implemented some relief measures for the Kashmiri Hindu community. However, these initiatives were suspended from June 30, 2024. We have initiated steps to rectify these issues since our government took office.”
He mentioned that numerous concerns were voiced by members of the displaced Kashmiri Hindu community in a recent meeting with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
“The Chief Minister listened attentively to their complaints and promised appropriate solutions. We are resolutely with our displaced Kashmiri brothers and sisters. The Delhi government truly sympathizes with their distress,” he stated.
“The Chief Minister recognizes their anguish and is dedicated to working diligently toward their relief,” he concluded.
In 2022, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declined to grant tax exemptions to the film ‘The Kashmir Files’, asserting that the film was significant only to the BJP and not to him.
Kejriwal also suggested that the filmmaker should release the film on social media for free access to the public.
Furthermore, he criticized the BJP government at the Centre for failing to adequately assist Kashmiri migrants.
