New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) Delhi BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah announced on Saturday that he intends to present a personal appeal in the Assembly for the incorporation of ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ as a daily prayer across all schools in Delhi.
He clarified that this initiative stems from his own beliefs and does not represent the official stance of the ruling BJP. Marwah expressed to IANS, “I believe that following the regular prayer, students in every school should also be taught to recite the Hanuman Chalisa.”
“This practice will assist children in grasping historical contexts—specifically, Hanuman ji’s devotion to Lord Ram and Sita ji, the sacrifices he made, and the services he provided...” stated Marwah, just two days prior to the Assembly session scheduled from August 4 to 8.
“This is my personal request, separate from the party's agenda. It reflects my individual religious beliefs,” he added, identifying himself as a veteran Sikh representative from the Jangpura constituency who transitioned to the BJP after a lengthy association with Congress.
“I plan to submit this matter under Rule 280,” Marwah mentioned.
According to Rule 280 of the Delhi Assembly's procedural guidelines, any member wishing to raise a non-point of order matter must submit a written notice to the Assembly Secretary.
In addition to moving towards paperless legislative operations, the upcoming Assembly session is expected to feature discussions on an educational bill aimed at regulating school fees.
Previously, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill represents a significant initiative by the BJP government to curb arbitrary fee hikes by private schools.
“The education bill will undergo thorough discussion in the Assembly,” CM Gupta informed reporters at the Secretariat ahead of the session from August 4 to 8.
The draft law intended to regulate fee increases in schools and impose penalties on non-compliant institutions received Cabinet approval in April of this year.
This was subsequently followed by the Delhi government endorsing the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Ordinance, 2025.
This legislation promises substantial relief for countless students enrolled in 1,677 private schools and their parents throughout the city.
“The Bill outlines the complete procedures and guidelines for fee determination and delineates the responsibilities of various parties, including school managements, the education directorate, and parents,” CM Gupta added.
