New Delhi, Oct 9 (NationPress) In anticipation of the worsening air quality issues in Delhi-NCR in the upcoming months, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) successfully wrapped up a training workshop aimed at officials from the cities of Gurugram and Faridabad, focusing on dust control strategies and road design.
The CAQM's initiative aimed to enhance capacity building for reducing air pollution through collaboration with state governments of NCR, municipal and environmental agencies, as well as local communities, to implement innovative and citizen-focused solutions for cleaner air in the region, as stated by an official.
“The workshop gathered government officials, enforcement bodies, engineers, and stakeholders who engaged in technical discussions and practical exercises,” the statement added.
Participants received training through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises covering sustainable road design, dust control measures, and the creation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) aimed at developing clean, safe, and pedestrian-friendly streets.
This workshop was organized by the CAQM, a statutory body of the Union government, through its Resource Lab, established in partnership with the Raahgiri Foundation and with the assistance of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB).
Spanning two days, this event marked the fourth in a series of workshops scheduled across nine targeted NCR cities, including Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhiwadi, and Neemrana, aimed at promoting sustainable road design and dust management practices. This initiative will support the implementation of the Standard Framework established by CAQM for road development in these areas.
The first day of the workshop took place in Faridabad, where the Commission underscored the importance of the CAQM Resource Lab. The workshop, alongside the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities, serves as a motivation, equipping engineers and officials with essential knowledge and tools for practical implementations.
As a statutory entity, the CAQM is collaborating with various NCR agencies to focus on the nine targeted cities for the redevelopment of dust-free roads, aiming to lower air pollution levels and enhance urban environments to be more open, inclusive, and healthier for everyone, the statement noted.
“Today, the CAQM Resource Lab, supported by @Haryana_spcb, successfully completed its two-day Training Workshop in Faridabad and IEC Activity in Gurugram, promoting sustainable road design and dust control practices,” the CAQM announced on X.
“This two-day event was the fourth in a series of workshops planned across nine targeted NCR cities - Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhiwadi, and Neemrana,” the post on X stated.
The workshop also included IEC activities in Gurugram, featuring a complete street and an air quality awareness zone through a walk-shop, which showcased art installations, air pollution mitigation games, and technical details of Haryana’s First Model Street, as per the statement.
