New Delhi, July 7 (NationPress) In a significant operation targeting illegal immigration, the Delhi Police revealed on Monday that they have apprehended and deported 29 foreign nationals from the capital for residing without valid visas.
Included in the deportees were 18 individuals from Bangladesh, as well as others hailing from African nations such as Nigeria, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Benin, and Tanzania.
The operation, conducted during June, was spearheaded by specialized teams from various police stations within the Dwarka District.
Officials reported that out of the 29 individuals, 11 were detained by the Special Staff, 7 by Dabri Police Station, 6 by the Anti-Narcotics Cell, 3 by Mohan Garden Police Station, and 1 each by Uttam Nagar, Dwarka, and AATS units.
In a statement, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ankit Singh highlighted that the illegal presence of foreign nationals was exerting pressure on local resources and infrastructure.
"Illegally residing foreigners are burdening the resources of the land, causing strain in Dwarka district," he remarked.
The police indicated that their operational units and local stations had been actively collecting intelligence on foreign nationals living unlawfully in the area.
After verifying their documentation and confirming that these individuals had either overstayed their visas or entered India without proper authorization, necessary actions were taken.
Among those apprehended were Iddi Rashid (Tanzania), Daniel Jonas (Benin), Daniel Toe Tuweh and Martnis Sibiely (Liberia), Basil Uwaebuka Chigbogh, Chinomso Uzorh, and Basol Onyekachi Okwuenu (Nigeria), as well as Ali Bamba, Anicet Nda, Chiaka Coulibuli, and Assi Eric (Ivory Coast).
The 18 Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Md. Safikul Islam, Mosami, Md. Islam, Md. Attikul, Md. Bilal, Alpana, Asiya, Lalita Barman, Bittu Barman, Lalit Barman, Santuna Barman, and seven children aged between 2.5 years and 15 years.
"They were found overstaying in India without a valid visa. They were presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which sanctioned their deportation. Consequently, they were sent to the Detention Centre," police stated.
This measure is part of a larger initiative by the Delhi Police to identify and deport illegal foreign nationals residing within the city. Officials emphasized that additional operations will persist to ensure national security and adequate resource allocation.
