New Delhi, May 23 (NationPress) In a significant effort to combat illegal immigration, a dedicated unit of the Delhi Police has detained 121 Bangladeshi nationals residing unlawfully in the capital and transferred them to a detention facility.
This specialized team has completed all requisite legal formalities and has issued deportation orders via the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
The detained individuals, many of whom either overstayed their visas or entered without the necessary documentation, are currently being held in detention centers while their cases are processed by the FRRO.
The FRRO, which oversees the management of foreign nationals in India, subsequently issued deportation orders based on confirmed details.
A statement from the Delhi Police released on Thursday indicated that the special team was formed under the guidance of Additional DCP-I Dr Chandra Prakash, led by ACP Badli Shashi Kant Gaur and SHO Alipur Shailender Kumar.
During an extensive operation, the team scrutinized the documentation of 831 suspected Bangladeshi individuals.
“In the past week, our operations uncovered 121 individuals living illegally in India. Deportation orders have been issued through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO),” the release stated.
Legal measures have already been initiated. An FIR No. 345/2025 has been lodged at the Police Station Narela Industrial Area under Sections 336(2), 336(3), 340(2), 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 14 and 14C of the Foreigners Act, 1946, to investigate the network responsible for facilitating the illegal entry and residency of these immigrants.
“Under the directives of Special Commissioner of Police Law & Order (Zone-I), Ravindra Kumar Yadav, IPS, a specialized investigation team led by Additional DCP-I Dr Chandra Prakash consists of one ACP, one Inspector, two Sub-Inspectors, two Head Constables, and two Constables,” the officials reported.
So far, five Indian nationals have been interrogated, all of whom were found to be providing accommodations to these illegal immigrants. One individual has received a notice under Section 35(3) of BNS (previously 41(A) CrPC).
The investigation is also focused on uncovering the origin of counterfeit documents such as electric meter connections, Aadhaar cards, and voter IDs obtained by illegal immigrants.
“Notices have been issued to relevant departments, and legal actions will be pursued against all implicated parties,” stated Nidhin Valsan, DCP Outer North District of the capital.
