Patna, July 17 (NationPress) The leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union Minister Chirag Paswan has vehemently condemned the remarks made by Bihar Police ADG (Headquarters and STF) Kundan Krishnan that linked the rise in murders in Bihar to the idle months of farmers. He termed the statement as deeply troubling and unfortunate.
On the social media platform X, Chirag Paswan expressed, “The comments made by Bihar Police ADG Kundan Krishnan are extremely disgraceful and unfortunate. To indirectly portray our farmers as murderers is not only an affront to their dignity but also a disrespect to their dedication and toil. The Bihar Police seems more preoccupied with making baseless statements rather than addressing the real criminals, which is quite concerning. The administration needs to reassess its priorities.”
Furthermore, Chirag Paswan raised alarms regarding the deteriorating law and order in Bihar, stating: “The situation of law and order in Bihar is now a grave issue. Murders occur daily, and the confidence of criminals is alarmingly high. The operational methods of the police department are incomprehensible.”
Highlighting a shocking incident where criminals invaded Paras Hospital in Patna and opened fire, Chirag remarked: “This incident shows that criminals are now openly defying the law and administration. The surge in crime just before the Bihar assembly elections is deeply troubling.”
Chirag Paswan called on the administration to implement decisive and stringent measures to restore law and order in Bihar.
In response to the recent rise in crime, ADG Kundan Krishnan stated that crime rates tend to escalate during April, May, and June when many farmers are idle, and they diminish once the rains arrive.
This statement has elicited strong backlash from opposition leaders, as well as from NDA allies.
Tejashwi Yadav commented that had the ADG made such statements earlier, people might have fled Bihar to protect themselves.
Prashant Kishor remarked that the ADG needs to have his vision checked if he perceives criminals in casual attire as farmers, insisting that the government should hold officers accountable instead of blaming farmers for the uptick in crime.
These remarks from the ADG have ignited a political uproar throughout Bihar, with leaders from various parties demanding accountability and scrutinizing the state's preparedness for law and order as the 2025 Assembly elections approach.
