Mumbai, July 17 (NationPress) Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar stated on Thursday in the Maharashtra Assembly that the state has devolved into a 20 percent commission system under the MahaYuti government's rule, asserting that commissions have become a prerequisite for securing work contracts.
His remarks came during a final week motion initiated by the opposition parties.
"Tender management is pervasive. No work proceeds without the payment of a 20 percent commission. Will the Chief Minister take action against this? A scandal has arisen in the recruitment of teachers, wherein Rs 30 lakh were extorted from each teacher, yet no accountability has been imposed on any institution owner. The mastermind behind this scandal remains untraceable," he asserted.
Wadettiwar further emphasized that corruption has become institutionalized in the state, with the government suffering from financial decline.
"The Chief Minister must eradicate this corruption," he insisted.
Addressing the surge in crime rates, Wadettiwar remarked, "The Koytya gang has caused unrest in Pune, while the towel banyan gang from the ruling party has become increasingly active, apparently pleased with their violent displays."
"What should be done about the Transport Minister after witnessing the maltreatment of a poor Scheduled Tribe individual who was assaulted for not receiving adequate food? Should we hold Ministers accountable for shoddy construction or the Health Minister for failing to provide medications in hospitals?" he questioned.
Wadettiwar criticized the government's operations, declaring that Maharashtra has descended into chaos.
"Maharashtra was once a progressive state, but now it is synonymous with farmer suicides and rampant drug issues. Senior BJP MLA Sudhir Mungtiwar reported that drugs valued at Rs 11,000 crore and synthetic drugs worth Rs 10,000 crore have been discovered in the state. This is merely the tip of the iceberg, and with ruling MLAs sharing this information, one can only infer the gravity of the situation," he commented.
Wadettiwar also mentioned the tragic case of Somnath Suryavanshi, a youth involved in the constitution movement who was killed in Parbhani. The government claimed he succumbed to a respiratory ailment, but now a court has mandated the filing of cases against the police. What will the government do in response?" he queried.
He alleged that over 700 km of illegal optical fiber cable were installed in Mumbai, with Rs 700 crore in revenue allegedly embezzled by the contracting company.
Wadettiwar demanded an investigation into this issue.
