Delhi Police Expel 12 Undocumented Bangladeshi Nationals in Recent Operation

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Delhi Police have expelled 12 undocumented Bangladeshi immigrants living in the national capital without possessing valid documentation, as confirmed by an official.
In response to the growing concerns regarding the unauthorized presence of migrants, particularly Bangladeshi nationals, in the capital, the Delhi Police have initiated a series of focused operations including verification drives and joint inspections across the South-East district.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Delhi) Ravi Kumar Singh has stated that a dedicated police team in the district is actively seeking out illegal Bangladeshi nationals. Thus far, the Delhi police have apprehended 12 Bangladeshi nationals unlawfully residing in the national capital.
Following an investigation involving nearly 1,200 individuals, 12 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were captured, and all have been transferred to detention camps. The search operation by the Delhi Police is ongoing, according to DCP Singh.
The initial official deportation order was issued by the South-West Delhi Police two weeks after the Lieutenant Governor Secretariat declared the launch of a special initiative to identify and deport unauthorized and illegal immigrants within the city.
To address the significant influx of Bangladeshi immigrants, especially after the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August, a specialized team comprising local police officers and special units has been established to conduct thorough searches and gather intelligence on undocumented immigrants.
During the verification drive, door-to-door checks were performed, and nearly 400 families had their documents collected. Verification forms were also dispatched to their corresponding addresses in West Bengal for further confirmation. Additionally, a special team was sent to West Bengal for manual verification of the suspects.
During the operation, eight Bangladeshi nationals were identified, arrested, and deported through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Among those deported, Bangladeshi national Samsul Seikh admitted to leaving his home in Dhaka and entering India undetected via dense forests. After a brief period in India, he returned to Bangladesh and brought his wife Parina Begam along with their six children.
Upon further investigation, police discovered that they were indeed from Bangladesh and had destroyed their Bangladeshi identification documents to avoid detection.
This recent verification initiative is part of an ongoing effort to identify and deport additional illegal migrants from Delhi in the near future.
