New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) As part of its intensified efforts against unauthorized Bangladeshi immigrants, the Delhi Police apprehended seven individuals, including a minor girl, from Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi and several other sites, an official disclosed on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for East District, Abhishek Dhania, stated that these seven Bangladeshi nationals were residing illegally without valid documentation in various places across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

“We had been following a lead for two weeks, which culminated in the arrest of Dilawar Khan, son of Gaffar Khan, residing in Krishna Nagar, New Delhi,” said DCP Dhania, noting that this detainee provided information about the network facilitating illegal migration into India via the river route.

“During the initial questioning, Dilawar Khan falsely identified himself as a resident of West Bengal. However, after thorough interrogation and verification, his true identity as Dilawar Khan, son of Gaffar Khan from Morrelganj Village in Morrelganj District, Bangladesh was established,” he added.

As a result of his interrogation, six additional illegal Bangladeshi nationals were identified in the Delhi-NCR region. “In a coordinated effort, teams executed simultaneous raids on Sunday at various locations including Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Seemapuri in Delhi, and Shalimar Garden in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh,” he mentioned.

The seven illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, comprising a woman and a minor, have been detained due to the diligent efforts of the combined teams from the Special Staff and Anti-Narcotics Squad of East District, as stated by DCP Dhania.

The DCP indicated that the detainees will be presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in R.K. Puram, Delhi for their deportation process.

The adult detainees included Dilawar Khan (48), Beauty Begum (39), Rafikul (43), Tauhid (20), Mohammed Azhar (28), and Zakir Malik (40). The minor among them is a 15-year-old girl.

DCP Dhania noted that these raids were part of the ongoing campaign by the Delhi Police against illegal immigrants.

He mentioned that two teams, one led by Special Staff Incharge Inspector Jitendra Malik and the other by Anti-Narcotics Squad Incharge Inspector Arun Kumar, worked tirelessly as part of a coordinated operation supervised by Additional DCP/Ops, East District, Nithya Radha Krishna.
