New Delhi, May 29 (NationPress) In a major development during its ongoing effort to combat illegal immigration, the East District Police of Delhi have detained five Bangladeshi nationals, including three minors, who were residing unlawfully in the Anand Vihar locality. This operation is part of a targeted initiative by the district police to identify and deport foreign nationals living in violation of immigration laws.
The operation represents a significant step in the district’s enhanced immigration enforcement strategy, conducted based on precise intelligence gathered through human and technical surveillance.
A specialized team from the Special Staff unit operated under Inspector Jitendra Malik, with direct oversight from Pawan Kumar, ACP/Operations, and overall direction from Abhishek Dhania, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East District.
According to police reports, the individuals had illegally entered India via unauthorized riverine routes along the India-Bangladesh border, a method frequently employed by illegal migrants to evade detection. They had been living covertly in Anand Vihar, attempting to blend in with the local population.
Following a carefully orchestrated raid, the five were taken into custody.
Upon interrogation, none could produce valid documents proving Indian citizenship. Further examination of their mobile devices revealed photographic evidence of Bangladeshi identity documents, confirming their nationality and illegal status in the country.
The detained have been identified as Md Shaheen, aged 30, and his wife Rujeena, aged 26, along with their three minors, all residents of Shimulbari village, Post Office Miyapara, Police Station Phulbari, District Kurigram, in the Rangpur division of Bangladesh.
Deportation proceedings have commenced in collaboration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Delhi. Authorities are strictly adhering to legal protocols, ensuring respect for procedural safeguards while prioritizing national security.
The presence of minors among the detained has led police to work closely with child welfare organizations to guarantee appropriate care and protective measures during the deportation process.
Officials from the East District Police have indicated that further operations are planned, with ongoing efforts to locate other illegal foreign nationals believed to be in the area.
The crackdown is aimed not only at enforcing immigration laws but also ensuring internal security, as illegal migration presents complex challenges, including identity fraud, unlawful employment, and pressure on civic resources.
DCP Abhishek Dhania, IPS, commented on the operation: “This initiative highlights the East District Police’s unwavering commitment to tackling illegal immigration. Our teams remain vigilant, working systematically to uphold the law and ensure the safety of Delhi’s residents.”
He emphasized that the drive against illegal immigration will persist at full force and urged the public to report any suspicious foreign individuals to local authorities.
