New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) As the festive season approaches, the Delhi Police have escalated their night vigilance throughout the national capital to ensure the safety of the public and avert any unforeseen incidents.

From midnight to 4 a.m., the city’s police personnel, including constables and the Police Commissioner, are actively patrolling the streets as part of a comprehensive general surveillance initiative.

In various areas of the city, such as West Delhi, Dwarka, and East Delhi, a significant police presence was observed during the night hours. Barricades were erected at key locations, vehicles were halted for thorough inspections, and individuals deemed suspicious were questioned. This collaborative effort involves local police, traffic enforcement, and specialized units, all working harmoniously to uphold the law and ensure public order.

On Saturday night, senior police officers were spotted conducting unannounced checks and overseeing the situation firsthand. In West Delhi, Joint Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal visited crucial checkpoints managed by the Paschim Vihar West police station, including the bustling Peeragarhi area, to evaluate readiness and uplift the spirits of the officers present.

In East Delhi, Commissioner of Police Satish Golcha performed a meticulous inspection at the Ghazipur border.

Joined by Special CP Law and Order (Zone 1) Ravindra Yadav, Additional CP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha, and other high-ranking officials, Golcha arrived around 1 a.m. and took time to engage with the personnel on duty. He assessed barricading, vehicle inspections, and overall security measures in the vicinity before proceeding to Hazrat Nizamuddin for further evaluations.

“A general alert has been activated across Delhi from midnight to 4 a.m. All senior officers, including myself, are actively in the field. In South Delhi alone, we’ve established 50 strong pickets to oversee and deter any suspicious activities,” stated South Delhi DCP Madhup Tiwari during a patrol.

Similar scenarios unfolded across the capital. On Rohtak Road, police teams engaged in overnight patrols, stopping and verifying vehicles for documentation and compliance with regulations. In areas such as Dwarka and IP Estate, officials checked in on local police stations, reviewed logbooks, and assessed nighttime staff deployment.

Traffic police units also played a crucial role by issuing on-the-spot fines for violations, including tinted windows, speeding, and lane infringements.

According to sources within the Delhi Police, this rigorous night patrol initiative will persist throughout the festive season, particularly during Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. The objective is to discourage criminal activity, ensure the safety of women, and reassure the community of a visible and responsive police presence.
