New Delhi, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Delhi Minister for Environment and Industries, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, convened a meeting with senior officials from DSIIDC to discuss maintenance and redevelopment strategies across 18 industrial zones.
During this review, officials from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) briefed the Minister on a three-tier classification of the industrial areas that focuses on road development and upkeep based on urgency: satisfactory, medium, and poor. This ensures a systematic approach to phased redevelopment.
Key industrial sectors discussed included Patparganj Industrial Area, Okhla Industrial Estate Phase III, Wazirpur, Naraina, Mayapuri Ph-I & II, Mangolpuri, Kirti Nagar, Badli, GT Karnal Road, DLF Moti Nagar, Okhla, Jhilmil, Rajasthani Udyog Nagar, and Lawrence Road, among others.
After the review, Sirsa stated, “The government is dedicated to providing long-lasting solutions that extend beyond mere routine maintenance.”
“The redevelopment initiatives for Delhi’s industrial areas aim not only to enhance basic infrastructure but also significantly cut down on dust pollution through intelligent and science-driven interventions,” he added.
Sirsa instructed DSIIDC officials to make sure that all newly constructed roads come equipped with pre-laid ducts for essential utilities like power cables, telecom lines, and water supply, preventing unnecessary excavation in the future.
The Minister also underscored the need for constant monitoring to ensure timely project completion and effective dust control during construction.
Officials informed the Minister that a coordinated pothole repair initiative is currently in progress throughout Delhi, including major industrial areas, as part of the Winter Action Plan. This initiative involves collaborative efforts from MCD, PWD, and DSIIDC to guarantee smoother roads and reduced dust generation.
“Various agencies are collaborating closely to ensure that Delhi’s roads remain free from potholes and that brown areas are covered to reduce dust. This effort not only contributes to improving the city’s air quality but also enhances safety and efficiency for industrial workers and logistics operators,” remarked Sirsa.
The Minister was also informed about the ongoing selection process for hiring a dedicated consultant to create an efficient sanitation and maintenance strategy for industrial areas.
This initiative aims to introduce professional expertise to tackle problems related to waste collection, drainage management, and environmental maintenance, as stated by Sirsa.
