In a written statement in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel disclosed the regional breakdown of cases and deaths attributed to this vector-borne illness for 2025.
Patel stated, “India has seen a total of 1,13,440 dengue cases and 94 deaths by November 2025.”

The most deaths were reported in Kerala with 49 fatalities, followed by Maharashtra with 13 and Tamil Nadu with 12.
The Minister also provided data on dengue cases over the past five years, according to reports from States and Union Territories submitted to the National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC). The number of cases reported in 2020 was 44,585, which increased to 1,93,245 in 2021, and 2,33,251 in 2023.
In 2024, the cases slightly increased to 2,33,519 before declining in 2025, which has recorded the lowest figures since 2021.
Additionally, Patel outlined the initiatives taken by the Centre to aid states in managing vector breeding in anticipation of the upcoming transmission cycle. The government has been closely monitoring the situation and state preparedness ahead of the transmission season for prompt action. It also provides technical directives for integrated vector management, case management, and preventative strategies.
Training is being conducted for entomologists on integrated vector management, while ASHAs are engaged in community outreach to reduce sources of mosquito breeding. Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBCs) are likewise involved in these activities.
States and UTs receive advisories and technical support to enhance awareness and readiness for any potential outbreaks in the future. Furthermore, free dengue diagnosis is available for all, including those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as stated by Patel.
