Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday, 24 September 2026, formally welcomed the appointment of Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) new state in-charges and co-in-charges for several states and Union Territories, calling the reshuffle a 'positive message' for the organisation. The endorsement comes as the BJP gears up for the Uttarakhand Assembly elections scheduled in 2027.

The New Appointments

BJP National President Nitin Nabin had on Wednesday announced a fresh slate of state in-charges and co-in-charges across multiple states and Union Territories as part of a broader organisational overhaul following his own appointment as national president. For Uttarakhand specifically, Ram Madhav has been named in-charge, while Arvind Menon and Bansuri Swaraj have been appointed co-in-charges.

What CM Dhami Said

'Our entire organisation has undergone an overhaul. A new national president has been appointed, following which new responsibilities are being assigned across the organisation. A new executive committee has been formed, along with new in-charges. We warmly welcome all three of them — Ram Madhav (in-charge), Arvind Menon and Bansuri Swaraj (co-in-charges). Their experience will benefit our entire party and organisation,' Dhami said.

Emphasising the timing ahead of the state polls, the Chief Minister noted that the newly appointed in-charges possess 'vast experience across social, political and electoral fields,' which he said would prove 'beneficial' for the party in Uttarakhand.

Cabinet Meeting at Banbasa

Dhami also addressed a proposal to hold the next Cabinet meeting in Banbasa, located in Champawat district on the India-Nepal border. He described the venue as significant, citing the presence of Maa Purnagiri Dham and an ongoing tribal festival. 'The government should make its presence felt everywhere, and government programmes should not be limited to Dehradun but should be held at various places across the state. That is why the meeting is being held there,' he said. The move is widely seen as an outreach effort to border communities ahead of the assembly elections.

Seva Sankalp Abhiyan

The Chief Minister also spoke about the BJP's Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a month-long service campaign that began on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. Dhami said the campaign — through dedicated camps — aims to bring government schemes and services directly to citizens who are unable to reach government offices. 'Serving people is equivalent to worship of God,' he quoted the Prime Minister as saying, framing the outreach as consistent with the BJP's stated ideology of public service.

With the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections on the horizon, the combined reshuffle, Cabinet outreach initiative, and grassroots service campaign signal a deliberate early mobilisation by the state BJP machinery.
