Ahmedabad, April 21 (NationPress) In a decisive move, authorities escalated their administrative actions in Dhandhuka, a town within Ahmedabad district, on Tuesday. They initiated a demolition operation targeting illegal structures while also cutting off electricity supply to two individuals identified as historysheeters. This action follows a recent fatal stabbing that sparked violence and turmoil in the community.

Bulldozers were actively employed to eliminate encroachments along vital routes, and the power utility disconnected electricity to the homes of Shabbir Chopda, implicated in the 2022 murder case of Kishan Bharwad, and Imtiyaz Pathan.

Officials revealed that the process of filing cases under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003, has commenced, with additional legal actions planned.

According to Ahmedabad Rural DySP Aastha Rana, speaking to IANS, “The demolition operation is currently in progress, and adequate police forces have been positioned to support the effort. At this juncture, the only measure taken against the two suspects has been the disconnection of their electricity supply. However, this won't be the last action. We will ensure thorough verification.”

A substantial police presence transformed parts of the town into a police-dominated area, as teams from various departments—including Roads and Buildings (R&B), revenue authorities, police, municipality, city survey, UGVCL, and emergency services—collaborated on the initiative.

Encroachments were being systematically removed along the route from the railway station to the Ranpur crossroads, where officials identified approximately 14 roadside shop sheds.

In the Khatkiwad region, five residential properties are also slated for demolition. Prior notices had been issued to numerous establishments, including around 12 along the Fedara–Dhandhuka highway.

Dhandhuka Municipality Chief Officer Raju Sheikh informed IANS, “Currently, the demolition operation is directed at around 15 to 20 illegal structures. The properties associated with the two suspects are not included in this round of demolitions; we are focusing on structures linked to historysheeters.”

This administrative response follows the tragic killing of Dharmesh Gamara, who was fatally stabbed during a dispute that reportedly originated from a minor motorcycle incident, escalating into a confrontation within a residential area.

The violence resulted in widespread unrest, including incidents of arson and vandalism, with several shops set ablaze and property damage reported throughout Dhandhuka.

Authorities reported the arrest of two individuals, Samir and Rizwan, in connection with the murder, while at least 20 others were detained for their suspected involvement in the ensuing violence.

Two FIRs have been registered: one concerning murder and related crimes, and another involving over 120 individuals for rioting, unlawful assembly, and destruction of property.

Investigators have reconstructed the crime scene to clarify the sequence of events, escorting the accused to various locations, including the stabbing site.

Furthermore, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to look into both the murder and the subsequent unrest. Authorities assured that the situation in the town is now stabilized, with normalcy gradually being restored.
