  • Operation Sindoor remains a significant military strategy.

New Delhi, May 24 (NationPress) In response to the visit of Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, to Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, BJP National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain remarked that the LoP missed a crucial opportunity to celebrate the courage of Indian soldiers.

“While at the border, Rahul Gandhi should have been expressing his support with chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and recognizing our soldiers' sacrifices. The Indian Army has dealt significant blows to Pakistan, dismantling nine terrorist camps and eliminating over 100 terrorists,” Hussain told IANS.

During his time in Poonch, LoP Rahul Gandhi visited various sites affected by recent cross-border shelling by Pakistani forces. He interacted with families impacted by the violence and examined damaged places of worship and educational facilities, including a gurdwara, a Hindu temple, a madrassa, and a Christian missionary school.

This visit follows escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, characterized by reported ceasefire violations. LoP Rahul Gandhi aimed to show support for the civilians who have suffered due to the hostilities.

Nonetheless, the BJP criticized the Congress leader’s visit, asserting it lacked a nationalistic tone and did not sufficiently acknowledge the efforts of the armed forces.

Hussain also referenced recent remarks from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his visit to Germany, where he asserted, “India will not submit to nuclear blackmail.”

Supporting this statement, Hussain noted, “Jaishankar is correct; we must safeguard our citizens and respond to terrorist threats. Pakistan has been clearly cautioned: any terrorist activities will face severe repercussions; Operation Sindoor is merely on hold, not concluded. While the ceasefire holds, any provocations will be countered with equal force as before.”

Hussain further criticized the Congress party’s ongoing outreach initiative, ‘Jai Hind Yatra’, accusing them of hypocrisy. “On one hand, Congress organizes events like 'Jai Hind Sabha', yet questions the bravery of the Indian Army. They previously doubted the surgical strike and the Balakot airstrike, and now they are challenging Operation Sindoor,” he stated.

Point of View

It is essential to understand that expressing solidarity with civilians is vital, especially in conflict zones. However, recognizing the valor of our armed forces is equally important. The ongoing discourse around these visits reflects the complexities of national pride and political messaging.
