Parnaik (Retd.), emphasized that national programs like Digital India, Skill India, Start-up India, Make in India, and the transformative NEP 2020 are significantly empowering the youth with adaptable learning paths, fostering a generation focused on creativity and research-driven thinking.
Speaking at the 23rd Convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) in Rono Hills, Doimukh, the Governor highlighted that this esteemed institution stands as a lively hub of knowledge, research, and cultural heritage, effectively shaping young minds by merging contemporary disciplines with the state’s rich traditions.
With a committed faculty, a vibrant student body, and a strong focus on innovation and inclusivity, the University continues to cultivate graduates who are not only academically proficient but also socially aware and prepared to contribute positively to society.
As Arunachal Pradesh swiftly advances toward development, the Governor urged RGU to serve as a catalyst for progress by nurturing innovation, enhancing research, encouraging entrepreneurship, upgrading infrastructure, and fostering both national and international collaborations. He also underscored the necessity of maintaining a clean, green, and plastic-free campus, along with promoting sports and physical activities for comprehensive student development.
Through these initiatives, Rajiv Gandhi University can generate local solutions, align with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, and play a pivotal role in shaping a prosperous and future-ready Arunachal Pradesh, remarked Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.).
In advising the faculty, the Governor stated that as educators of RGU, they bear the profound duty not merely to instruct but to inspire, as classrooms are where ideas are molded and futures are crafted. He encouraged them to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation, guiding students to question, explore, and challenge themselves in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving Arunachal Pradesh.
During the Convocation, the Governor, who serves as the Chief Rector of RGU, awarded the Chancellor’s Gold Medal for the academic session 2024-25 to Bobita Hazarika, M.Sc. (Chemistry), and the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal to Prastuti Borah, the undergraduate topper.
Degrees were granted to 115 PhD scholars, 911 post-graduates, and 6,331 undergraduates, alongside 127 recipients of post-graduate diplomas for the academic session 2024-25. A total of 38 gold medalists from postgraduate programs and 33 from undergraduate programs were recognized for their exceptional academic accomplishments.
