Dilip Kumar, Student Leader Arrested During BPSC Protests, Released from Beur Jail

Patna, Dec 12 (NationPress) Student leader Dilip Kumar, who had been incarcerated after being arrested during a demonstration regarding the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam normalisation controversy, was freed from Beur Jail on Thursday evening.

He received bail on December 10.

His arrest ignited considerable backing from students and activists advocating for his release.

Dilip Kumar was apprehended on December 7 by the Gardanibagh police in Patna.

This arrest was a result of protests that he led alongside other students against perceived irregularities in the BPSC examination system, focusing particularly on the normalisation process for the upcoming 70th BPSC examination set for December 13.

The demonstrations, which caused traffic disruptions on Bailey Road, prompted legal action against Dilip Kumar and 250 unidentified individuals for allegedly inciting riots, hindering government functions, and conspiracy.

Notable education figures like Khan Sir and Guru Rehman also participated in the protests, which condemned the BPSC's decision to issue question papers in multiple sets, arguing that this would only confuse candidates further.

Upon his release, Dilip Kumar spoke to the media, conveying his appreciation for the extensive support he received from students, educators, and advocates nationwide.

He specifically acknowledged the advocates who provided their services pro bono.

In a passionate address, he asserted: "If the coaching, education, and job mafia believe they can silence my voice by imprisoning me, they are mistaken. We will persistently advocate for the interests of students. The confusion regarding question papers was perpetuated by the BPSC itself, with the chairman asserting that there would be multiple sets."

Dilip Kumar claimed that his arrest was part of a scheme to stifle dissent prior to the exams and reaffirmed his dedication to continue the fight for students' rights.

He also revealed that his experience in Beur Jail offered him perspectives that only bolstered his determination.

The protests and Dilip Kumar's arrest have underscored the escalating discontent among students concerning the BPSC's management of competitive exams.

The normalisation policy and the alleged mismanagement of question paper sets have become pivotal issues for candidates, drawing significant criticism from educators and student leaders alike.
