New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) In a strategic effort to bolster its organizational framework, the esteemed party has determined that the District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents will assume a more significant role in the candidate selection process and overall party efficiency. During a crucial meeting at Indira Bhavan on Thursday, prominent party figures, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Congress General Secretary Organization K.C. Venugopal, deliberated on empowering district-level leadership.

The initiative aims to improve accountability and engagement, with district presidents being assessed based on multiple criteria, such as voter engagement, election outcomes, and participation in party initiatives.

This transition is part of Congress' larger strategy to enhance its footprint and effectiveness at the grassroots.

Furthermore, the meeting concentrated on strengthening the Congress' presence at the district level, with in-depth discussions on reinforcing the party structure across various regions.

District presidents from states including Maharashtra, Mumbai, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Chandigarh participated, along with Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chiefs, in-charges, and General Secretaries.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the six presentations provided by various departments of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC).

These presentations encompassed a variety of themes, including media management, social media outreach, party properties, organizational structure, treasury management, and training.

The discussions were intended to equip district-level leaders with essential tools and insights to amplify the party’s influence.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Congress spokesperson and Head of Media and Publicity Pawan Khera mentioned that this was the second phase of an ongoing series of meetings with District Congress Presidents.

Khera explained that the Congress party aims to empower district-level leadership with enhanced authority. Under the new structure, district presidents will be more involved in the candidate selection process, and their performance will be closely monitored.

The contributions of district presidents will be assessed based on various metrics, including voter lists, participation in party events, and overall performance.

This evaluation will also consider voter turnout during Panchayat, Municipal, Assembly, and Lok Sabha elections.

Khera further indicated that this is the first time the party has convened such meetings to ensure thorough planning and accountability at the district level.

The next phase of the meeting is scheduled for Friday, where discussions will encompass the remaining states.
