The purpose of the gathering was to enlighten citizens on the mechanisms and advantages of these recent legislations, which took effect in July 2024.
ASP Headquarters Doda, Shakeel ul Rehman, spoke to the press, indicating that the main objective of the program was to enhance public comprehension of the new laws, which are intended to streamline and improve the criminal justice system for everyday individuals.
He stressed that these revised laws have been designed to meet contemporary societal requirements, with a strong emphasis on boosting citizen safety and legal transparency.
“Today's event is part of a broader campaign to disseminate knowledge regarding these crucial legislative changes, which simplify the intricate elements of our previous laws. These alterations aim to better serve the populace and ensure that the justice system is more approachable and clear,” stated ASP Shakeel ul Rehman.
During the presentation, supervisory officers, subdivisional police officers, and Station House Officers (SHOs) elaborated on the significant features of the new regulations, outlining their practical implementations and community implications.
The officers also highlighted the necessity of educating at-risk groups, especially students and those susceptible to cyber crimes or fraud, on how to protect themselves and their families.
“Our district police is dedicated to reaching every village, panchayat, and educational institution to conduct similar awareness events. By doing so, we aspire to connect with every part of the community and equip individuals with the knowledge they need to safeguard themselves and contribute to a safer environment,” Rehman added.
The event was part of a nationwide initiative to elevate awareness about the updated criminal codes, which seek to enhance the conviction rate and nurture better relations between law enforcement and the community.
Rehman also underscored the significance of modern technology in crime prevention and investigation, urging participants to be vigilant about their digital behavior.
“We exist in a digital era, where even minor actions on your mobile device can serve as evidence. We must remain aware of our online conduct and utilize technology responsibly. The police are actively working to utilize these advancements to boost public safety,” he concluded.
