Chennai, Dec 13 (NationPress) Chief Minister M.K. Stalin declared on Saturday that Tamil Nadu is on a determined path to becoming India’s leading state across all sectors by 2031, as he unveiled the ambitious “Dravidian Model 2.0” which is poised to achieve its full potential.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister underscored Tamil Nadu’s impressive economic performance, noting that the state boasts the highest Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate in the nation at 16 percent. He emphasized that this accomplishment is remarkable considering Tamil Nadu is neither among the largest states by geographical area nor population and does not receive extensive financial backing from the Union government.
Stalin remarked that the state’s economy has demonstrated stable and consistently high growth over the past three years, a trend supported by data from the Reserve Bank of India.
From the financial years 2021 to 2025, Tamil Nadu’s economy surged by approximately Rs 10.5 lakh crore, bringing the total GSDP to Rs 31.19 lakh crore.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Tamil Nadu’s growth rate has outpaced that of other economically significant states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Furthermore, he noted the continued robust growth in the state’s per capita income, indicating enhancements not only in overall economic output but also in individual prosperity.
Reaffirming his faith in the developmental strategy adopted by his administration, Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu’s progress serves as clear evidence of the effectiveness of the Dravidian model of governance.
He stressed that the model emphasizes inclusive growth, social justice, and fair resource distribution, while also fostering industrial growth and infrastructure development.
According to the Chief Minister, the government’s commitment to education, healthcare, social welfare initiatives, industrial investments, and job creation has enabled Tamil Nadu to maintain steady growth amidst global and national economic uncertainties. He stated that this balanced strategy has allowed the state to merge economic growth with social advancement.
Stalin declared that the objective of “Dravidian Model 2.0” is not just to compete with other states but to establish new national standards. “By 2031, Tamil Nadu will not lag behind any other state in any sector. Instead, it will serve as a model for the entire country,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister’s comments arise amid increasing political and economic discussions regarding federal support, fiscal autonomy, and various development models, with Tamil Nadu presenting itself as an exemplar of sustained growth fueled by state-led initiatives.
