New Delhi/Amman, Dec 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day official trip to Jordan on December 15 and 16, marking a pivotal point in India-Jordan relations as the nations celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties.

This visit, at the invitation of King Abdullah II of Jordan, aims to bolster the already close and diverse partnership between the two countries, as noted by Manish Chauhan, India's Ambassador to Jordan.

Ambassador Chauhan expressed optimism that Prime Minister Modi's visit will inject new energy into bilateral relations, propelling the partnership to new heights. "We are hopeful for a highly productive and successful visit, which will strengthen the enduring connections between India and Jordan," he shared with IANS.

During his time in Jordan, Prime Minister Modi will engage in delegation-level discussions with King Abdullah II and is also slated to meet with Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II. He will be officially welcomed by the Prime Minister of Jordan upon his arrival in Amman.

According to the ambassador, the Prime Minister's agenda underscores the significance both countries place on their relationship, featuring numerous high-level interactions over the two days. In addition to leadership meetings, Prime Minister Modi will join a session with prominent Jordanian business leaders to explore opportunities for enhancing economic collaboration.

As part of his itinerary, Prime Minister Modi will also visit the historic site of Petra, accompanied by the Crown Prince, showcasing the cultural aspect of the bilateral ties.

“The Prime Minister has a packed schedule, which reflects the extensive engagement planned for this visit,” Chauhan stated, adding that discussions are expected to encompass a wide array of bilateral matters as well as regional and other issues of shared interest.

Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to receive a warm greeting from the Indian community in Jordan. Ambassador Chauhan remarked that the Indian diaspora is vibrant, well-integrated, and eagerly awaiting the Prime Minister's visit.

Highlighting the robust economic links between the two nations, Chauhan stated that India ranks among Jordan’s top trading partners. Jordan exports essential commodities, including fertilizers crucial to India’s food security.

"Our trade volume is around $2.8 billion, nearing $3 billion, but there is significant potential for further expansion," he remarked, indicating that both nations see opportunities for increased cooperation across various sectors.

Ambassador Chauhan also emphasized the deep cultural and people-to-people connections between India and Jordan, noting a solid group of "Friends of India" in the country, many of whom have studied in Indian institutions and maintain strong personal and professional ties with India.

Education, cultural exchanges, and engagement at the people level are vital pillars of the bilateral relationship, he mentioned. The launch of direct flights by Royal Jordanian Airlines has further enhanced connectivity, with both sides hoping for increased travel and exchanges in the future.
