Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Nagpur, Dec 14 (NationPress) The opposition raised their voices in the Assembly on Sunday, condemning the Mahayuti government regarding the police's violent actions against trainees from the CM Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana.
Congress Legislative Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar, joined by colleagues Jayant Patil and Nana Patole, intensely questioned Minister of Skill Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha about the future of these trainees after their 11-month training.
During the discussion on the calling attention motion, they highlighted statements purportedly made by former Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the current CM Devendra Fadnavis, indicating that these trainees would be assured permanent jobs within the state government.
Nonetheless, Minister Shambhuraj Desai refuted the claims from Wadettiwar, Patil, and Patole, explaining that Shinde had never guaranteed permanent positions but mentioned that the matter would be approached with understanding.
The initiative is designed to offer job-specific, hands-on training to address the gap between academic knowledge and industry needs, enhancing the skills and employability of young graduates and diploma holders while providing financial aid in the form of a monthly stipend during the training.
Wadettiwar criticized the government for introducing the scheme before the Assembly elections with the promise of employment, only to leave the youth without support. He questioned, "What type of governance results in violence against peaceful protesters?"
He further stated, "This scheme was launched pre-elections, yet it has now been halted. These young individuals supported your campaign; they worked tirelessly for your success. Instead of recognition, they faced brutal treatment during protests, with some sustaining fractures. This exemplifies the government’s lack of empathy. What about these children's futures? What happened to the commitment made by the previous Chief Minister regarding their job placements?"
Patil and Patole pressed Minister Lodha to clarify the government's policy concerning permanent jobs for students post-training.
In response to the opposition's vigorous inquiries, Minister Lodha reassured the assembly that the scheme remains active and confirmed that the trainees would be integrated into a new initiative, with the government developing a new policy on this matter.
