New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking and related offenses, the Dwarka District Police executed a large-scale operation dubbed ‘Operation Clean Sweep-2’ on Saturday, resulting in the arrest of nine suspects, including a Nigerian national, and the recovery of a considerable amount of narcotics, illicit liquor, firearms, and cash, as per officials' statements.
This extensive operation spanned over two days, December 19 and 20, featuring synchronized raids at nearly 50 locations throughout the Dwarka district.
This initiative is in line with the Government of India’s strict policy against drug supply networks, enforced by the Delhi Police under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Commissioner of Police Satish Golcha.
As reported by the Delhi Police, the operation was carried out by specialized teams from the Operations Unit, led by Inspectors Kamlesh Kumar, Subhash Chand, Vishvender, Manish, Vivek Mandola, and Jitender, the SHO Chhawla, under the oversight of ACP Operations Dwarka Ramavtar.
The teams focused on identifying and dismantling local drug trafficking networks and their associated illegal operations.
During the raids, officers apprehended nine individuals from various areas including Bindapur, Uttam Nagar, Dabri, Mohan Garden, and Dwarka South.
Included in the arrests was Samson, also known as Cheze, a 28-year-old Nigerian national hailing from Lagos State.
Other detainees consist of Sanjay, Govind Kumar, Ramesh, Vikash (alias Golu), Vishal Singh along with his spouse, Gajender (alias Tinnu), and Vinod (alias Guddu).
The police have filed eight FIRs across various police stations under the provisions of the NDPS Act, Delhi Excise Act, and the Arms Act.
Items recovered during the operation include 33.244 kg of ganja (marijuana), 62 grams of amphetamine, 32 tablets of buprenorphine, 13 Avil injections, 105 quarters of illicit liquor, one knife, and cash totaling Rs 3.64 lakh.
Officials confirmed that the search and verification operations are ongoing, with further arrests anticipated.
Investigators are currently working on tracing the connections of the drug syndicate to uncover suppliers, financiers, and broader interstate or international links.
