Kolkata, April 3 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has expressed significant concern regarding the extensive police presence assigned by both West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police to ensure personal safety for Trinamool Congress leaders across different tiers in the state.
The Commission has pointed out a potentially biased method in determining which leaders receive state-sponsored security, with those from the ruling party reportedly receiving an excessive level of protection, according to Commission sources.
It was noted that prior to the election announcement, the West Bengal government had allocated 2,185 police officers for the security of 832 individuals associated with the Trinamool Congress, in addition to 144 others, including supporters of the ruling party.
