New Delhi, Sep 3 (NationPress) The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), operating from the Delhi Zonal Office, has initiated extensive search operations at various sites across Delhi-NCR and Pune, Maharashtra. This action pertains to an alleged bank fraud case involving Gupta Exim India Private Ltd. (GEIPL).

The searches, executed on September 2, 2025, were conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, focusing on locations tied to individuals and entities closely linked to the Promoters and Directors of GEIPL, especially during the timeline of the fraud. Key management personnel who allegedly assisted in diverting and misappropriating loan funds have also been scrutinized.

The ED's investigation, launched under the PMLA, 2002, stemmed from a CBI FIR filed following a complaint by Punjab National Bank against GEIPL. The bank accused the company, via its Promoters and Directors, of misappropriating loans worth approximately Rs. 425 crores.

“The investigation uncovered that significant amounts of money were illicitly transferred from GEIPL’s company accounts to related persons and entities,” the agency stated in its press release.

“It became evident that these financial transactions were orchestrated to artificially inflate the company's financial statements, thereby securing larger loans from banks,” it continued.

Additionally, a part of the bank loans obtained by GEIPL was found to be misappropriated, ending up in the personal accounts of its promoters.

The search operations led to the freezing of bank accounts, mutual funds, and shares valued at Rs. 1.63 crore, alongside the seizure of Indian currency amounting to approximately Rs. 15 lakh, in addition to several incriminating documents.

Continued investigations are ongoing.
