Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 9 (NationPress) In a significant development regarding the Bihar fake government job scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has executed search operations at 16 locations nationwide, uncovering incriminating documents and digital evidence, reported an official on Friday.
The Patna Zonal Office of the Directorate of Enforcement undertook searches in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, across various sites including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Kolkata, Ernakulam, Pandalam, Adoor, Kodur, Chennai, Rajkot, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Lucknow, as stated in an official announcement.
During these operations, a range of documents and materials were seized, including sale deeds, bank account information, handwritten notes, cheques, loan agreements, investment details, copies of fraudulent job advertisements, and digital evidence, according to the ED.
The investigation was triggered by an FIR lodged at the Sonpur GRPS police station against Deepak Kumar Tiwari and Saksham Srivastava, who were reportedly soliciting job seekers at Sonpur Railway Station in Bihar.
Upon interrogation, it was discovered that the suspects were affiliated with a syndicate that deceived individuals by promising government employment, the statement concluded.
The group is accused of running a complex fake job scam targeting candidates for government roles in the Indian Railways and other sectors, offering positions like RPF personnel, TTEs, and technicians, according to the ED.
They allegedly forged joining letters, set up fake training centers, and created counterfeit identification cards and email addresses mimicking official government domains, including 'gm.eer.rail.net.gov.in@gmail.com', to impersonate the Ministry of Railways while sending fake joining letters to applicants.
The accused purportedly disbursed salaries for two to three months from government-sounding bank accounts such as “M/s Treasury Office RO”, “M/s FCI RO”, “RRB”, and “By Salary” to lend authenticity to the job offers, the investigative agency noted.
