New Delhi, Oct 4 (NationPress) In a significant move to facilitate the orderly execution of the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to convene a vital meeting with delegates from various political factions in Patna this Saturday.
The objective of this meeting is to assess election readiness and collect insights from stakeholders, scheduled from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Taj Hotel.
Leading the session will be Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
The election body is currently undergoing a two-day inspection of Bihar, evaluating both administrative and security measures in anticipation of the pivotal elections expected later this year.
Each party has been allowed to send a maximum of three representatives to the meeting.
Participants will include leaders from the BJP, JD(U), RJD, Congress, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party, RLSP, BSP, AAP, CPI(M), CPI(ML) Liberation, and the National People's Party.
The Commission plans to deliberate on logistical arrangements, voter accessibility, the Model Code of Conduct, and other electoral protocols. Political parties will also have the chance to present their recommendations and highlight any issues.
On the following day, the Commission will engage with District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, and election officials to evaluate local preparations and law enforcement strategies. The discussions will also touch upon preventing electoral fraud and ensuring transparency.
Before their visit to Bihar, the Election Commission conducted a detailed briefing in New Delhi on Friday at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) for over 400 central observers. These officials will monitor the election process in Bihar and various upcoming by-elections across the nation.
Currently, the EC has not yet disclosed official election dates. However, with the final electoral roll published on September 30, which shows 7.42 crore registered voters following a decrease of over 47 lakh since June, the stage is set for formal election announcements in the near future.
