Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Jan 13 (NationPress) A tragic incident occurred in Narnaul, Haryana, where a 55-year-old man lost his life following an explosion of his electric scooter's battery during charging at home, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
This devastating explosion happened on Monday night, igniting a significant fire that consumed a large portion of his residence and obliterated many of his possessions.
The victim has been identified as Shiv Kumar, a local from Barkoda village who resided in a self-built home in Ramnagar Colony, Narnaul.
Shiv Kumar, who was a laborer belonging to the Bawaria community, is survived by three children—two daughters and a son, all of whom are married. One daughter has secured a position in a Group D government role.
Reports from the police and local residents indicate that Shiv Kumar was alone in one room while his electric scooter was charging in the house. Other family members were in a separate room. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the battery exploded with a loud noise, igniting a fire that rapidly spread throughout the home.
Neighbors, alerted by the explosion, quickly rushed to assist and notified the police, fire brigade, and emergency medical services. Firefighters arrived and managed to control the blaze after nearly 30 minutes.
Shiv Kumar was found in a severely injured state and was taken to the civil hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The fire caused extensive destruction within the house, damaging furniture, windows, doors, beds, sofas, and various other household items.
Initial investigations suggest that the electric scooter, which was acquired about a year prior from a showroom in Naseebpur, was a Toxmo Rhino Plus model. This low-speed scooter, which does not require registration with the RTA or a driving license, has a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The vehicle, which was red, was routinely charged overnight.
The police have yet to determine the cause of the explosion but have initiated an investigation into the incident.
