Mumbai, March 31 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is more than capable and there is no current need to consider a successor, countering the claims made by Sanjay Raut, an MP from Shiv Sena-UBT, that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would determine his successor, potentially someone from Maharashtra.
Fadnavis asserted, "PM Modi can continue to lead for many more years. The nation is looking towards him as the Prime Minister in 2029 (the upcoming general elections). Hence, discussing a successor at this juncture is not appropriate. It is not customary in our country to seek a successor while the current leader is still alive," he commented.
Previously, Raut informed the media that PM Modi's recent visit to the RSS headquarters on Sunday was indicative of his political trajectory. "PM Modi has never visited the RSS headquarters before, but this time he went there to bid farewell," he claimed.
Raut asserted that the RSS is strongly advocating for a leadership change at the national level and will choose PM Modi's successor from Maharashtra. He also claimed that the RSS aims to select the next national President of the BJP, indicating that PM Modi's visit to Nagpur might be to discuss this with the organization's leadership.
During his visit to the RSS headquarters, PM Modi remarked that the RSS is not merely a banyan tree; it represents the modern 'Akshay Vat Vriksh' of India's enduring culture, and the organization is synonymous with selfless service.
He commended the RSS's dedication in various sectors and its contributions towards nation-building, social service, and cultural preservation.
PM Modi's commendation of the RSS and its volunteers in nation-building occurs at a time when the RSS has announced plans to celebrate its centenary year with numerous events spanning 12 months, commencing from Vijayadasami Day.
Earlier, PM Modi visited the Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir in Nagpur and honored the memorials of Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS, and the second sarsanghchalak (chief) M. S. Golwalkar.
