Key Takeaways
Nagpur, Jan 30 (NationPress) Following the unexpected gap left by the demise of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took decisive steps on Friday to maintain administrative continuity and political stability.
The Chief Minister declared that he would personally oversee the 2026-27 State Budget, a project meticulously crafted by Ajit Pawar.
Fadnavis pointed out that Ajit Pawar, in his role as Finance Minister, had laid significant groundwork for the upcoming financial year.
"To realize his vision, I will personally supervise the budget work beginning tomorrow," he stated. The unexpected loss of Ajit Pawar has prompted concerns about the upcoming state budget.
Fadnavis reassured that while Ajit Pawar had accomplished the majority of the preparations, he would now take charge of the remaining process.
“Ajit Dada managed all the budget preparations. I will personally oversee the remaining steps starting tomorrow. We will ultimately determine who will present the budget in the legislature,” Fadnavis mentioned.
The Chief Minister asserted that the BJP and the state government will fully support the NCP and Ajit Pawar’s family. He stressed that any decisions regarding the future leadership of the NCP would be honored and supported by the ruling alliance.
"Whatever decision the NCP makes regarding its leadership or the family, we as a government and as the BJP will stand firmly behind them," Fadnavis reiterated, aiming to instill a sense of stability within the MahaYuti alliance during this transitional phase.
When queried about a formal proposal for the Deputy Chief Minister’s position, Fadnavis confirmed that discussions are currently in progress.
"The NCP leaders have met with me twice to discuss their internal procedures and available options. However, the final decision is theirs, and it wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment until they finalize it," he added.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister addressed the upcoming Mayoral elections in Mumbai, Nagpur, and other cities.
He mentioned that discussions within the MahaYuti alliance are ongoing, and final candidates for these positions will be confirmed in the coming days after consultations with local party leaders and legislators.
