New Delhi, Nov 8 (NationPress) The Congress party on Saturday responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's assertion that the NDA would secure over 160 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, deeming his remark an “illusion” and questioning the reliability of his political predictions, dubbing him “fake Chanakya.”
In a strong retort to HM Shah’s electoral forecasts, Congress leader Pawan Khera asserted that the electorate in Bihar is delivering a clear mandate for the Opposition coalition.
He emphasized, “We are assured of a clear mandate for 72 seats. We state this with certainty. As for those proclaiming a victory of over 400 seats, they can continue their chants. Nothing will materialize; the Home Minister’s strategy will falter. He is indeed a fake Chanakya.”
Similarly, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari challenged the BJP’s overconfidence regarding election predictions, referencing the party’s decline in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
He remarked, “Just a few days ago, you claimed you would win 400 seats in Parliament. However, your tally dropped from 306 to 238. What happened to your own assessment made while serving as Home Minister?”
Earlier on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed strong belief that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would achieve a significant victory in Bihar, claiming the ruling coalition would win “more than 160 seats” and form the next government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
Meanwhile, while addressing a rally in Purnea on Saturday, HM Shah reiterated the NDA’s development agenda, pledging decisive action on security and illegal infiltration.
He stated, “We have addressed this issue in various regions, and I assure the people of Seemanchal and Bihar that within the next five years, we will eliminate infiltrators from Bihar. We will not only expel infiltrators but also provide alternative livelihoods to those engaged in illegal trades and clear illegal encroachments. The BJP and NDA will execute this task.”
However, the Congress party dismissed HM Shah’s claims and assurances as “political posturing” ahead of the elections, asserting that the voters of Bihar are more concerned about unemployment, inflation, and rural development rather than political rhetoric. As the second phase of voting approaches on November 11, the war of words between the BJP and Congress has escalated the political tensions in Bihar.
