Bhopal, Nov 8 (NationPress) On Saturday, the Congress party raised concerns that a significant number of RSS workers have been designated as Block Level Officers (BLOs) for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Madhya Pradesh.
The Congress further claimed that the SIR process was initiated without adequate preparation, noting that many BLOs had not yet received form 18, and residents in over 65 percent of villages were still awaiting these forms.
These serious allegations surfaced during a press conference featuring prominent Congress figures, including former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, MP LoP Umang Singhar, PCC chief Jitu Patwari, and ex-minister Sajjan Singh Verma.
Sajjan Singh Verma, who leads a Congress committee overseeing the SIR issue in the state, informed the media, “Over 1.5 lakh RSS workers have been registered for BLO positions in Madhya Pradesh.”
The Congress leader also pointed out that the contact details of approximately 28,000 BLOs were missing from the list shared by the Election Commission (EC).
“Why are the contact numbers of the BLOs absent from the list given to the Congress?” Verma questioned.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh alleged discrepancies in the voters' lists provided to political parties and presiding officers during elections.
He called for the voter list to be frozen immediately upon the announcement of election dates.
In addition, the Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh, Umang Singhar, accused the BJP of plotting to disenfranchise around 50,000 eligible voters, particularly in tribal regions.
He emphasized that Congress is closely monitoring the SIR to prevent the removal of eligible voters.
It’s worth noting that the Election Commission commenced the second phase of the SIR process in nine states, including Madhya Pradesh, as well as three Union Territories starting November 4.
This exercise will run until December 4. For this, a BLO has been assigned to each of the 65,014 polling stations statewide, tasked with door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms.
Under this initiative, BLOs are responsible for delivering enumeration forms to voters at their homes.
Claims and objections will be accepted until January 8, and the final voter list will be published on February 7, after resolving all claims by January 31.
