Bhopal, May 29 (NationPress) A devastating lightning strike claimed the lives of three family members, including an eight-year-old child, in Bara village, located within the Semariya police jurisdiction in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh.
The victims were identified as Ashish Vasudeva, aged thirty-two, his wife Jyoti Vasudeva, twenty-six, and their son Kishan Vasudeva, aged eight.
This tragic event unfolded while they sheltered under a mango tree by their field, where they were struck by lightning and died instantly.
In addition, two other family members, Naina Vasudeva, age two, and Premlal Vasudeva, aged fifty-five, sustained injuries during the incident.
Reports indicated that Premlal's wife also suffered injuries; however, local police dismissed this report. Initially, the injured were taken to the Primary Health Centre in Semariya, but due to the severity of their conditions, they were subsequently referred to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa for advanced treatment.
According to Umesh Prajapati, the sub-divisional officer (police) of Sirmaur, 'The victims lived in a temporary hut in Bara village. The lightning incident occurred around one-thirty PM while they were under the mango tree. They died on the spot.'
Currently, Madhya Pradesh is experiencing adverse weather conditions during the fifth day of Nautapa, a nine-day heat period in Hindu astronomy, marking the peak summer heat in India.
