Bhopal, June 26 (NationPress) A heartbreaking event unfolded in Lolki village of Agar Malwa district, where lightning struck four young farmers toiling in the fields. Tragically, two cousins, Kamal Singh, aged 33, and Lakhan Singh, also known as Laxman Singh, aged 30, perished instantly. The other two, Man Singh and Vishal Patidar, both aged 25, sustained severe burn injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Agar Malwa district hospital.
According to Kesar Rajput, the in-charge of Susner police station, “All four were engaged in tilling their fields. Laxman and Kamal, who were closely related, died on the spot, while Man Singh and Vishal were injured and rushed to the district hospital.”
Heavy rainfall persisted across Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, causing significant disruptions in over 25 districts and leading to multiple weather-related incidents. Indore experienced a drastic change in weather as dark clouds rolled in, resulting in heavy rain that drastically reduced visibility.
Vidisha faced severe waterlogging in numerous low-lying areas, while parts of Jabalpur saw rainwater entering several homes.
In Begamganj, located in the Raisen district, a kutcha house collapsed due to the torrential rains, trapping a family of five. Local residents quickly sprang into action and rescued all family members, including a couple and their three children.
All rescued individuals are now hospitalized, according to police officials. The closure of Sultanganj Road in Begamganj has left nearly 50 villages isolated from the town.
Districts including Sagar, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Bhopal, Khandwa, Dhar, Mandsaur, Betul, Guna, Gwalior, and Narmadapuram also experienced extensive rainfall.
Jabalpur recorded 1.7 inches of rain, while Sagar and Ratlam each saw 1.25 inches. This rainfall caused a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures across the state.
The Madhya Pradesh Meteorological Department has issued a continued rainfall warning for 25 districts, including Neemuch, Mandsaur, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Ashoknagar, Agar-Malwa, Dewas, Sehore, and Damoh.
The alert indicates the likelihood of heavy downpours in these regions in the coming hours. Additionally, 15 other districts, including Anuppur, Barwani, Khargone, Morena, and Tikamgarh, are expected to receive light to moderate thundershowers.
Rain is also forecasted for Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, and areas in Seoni and Maihar. Authorities are advising residents to exercise caution, especially in flood-prone and lightning-sensitive areas, as weather systems remain active over central India. Emergency services are on standby to address any unexpected situations.
