New Delhi, Oct 28 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Tuesday that the introduction of subsidies on phosphorus and potash is set to enhance the accessibility of fertilizers for annadatas at reasonable prices, while simultaneously boosting their income.
The Cabinet, led by PM Modi, has given its nod to the Department of Fertilisers' proposal to establish the nutrient-based subsidy (NBS) rates for the upcoming Rabi Season of 2025-26, which spans from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
The projected financial requirement for this Rabi season is estimated to be around Rs 37,952.29 crore, an increase of Rs 736 crore compared to the budget for the Kharif season of 2025.
“Our commitment is towards the welfare of our farming community nationwide. In this regard, the government has taken a vital step by approving subsidies on phosphorus and potash fertilizers for the Rabi season of 2025-26,” PM Modi stated in a post on X.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this initiative will not only make fertilizers more affordable for farmers but will also enhance their earnings.
The subsidy will cover Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and NPKS (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potash, Sulphur) grades, provided at the approved rates for Rabi 2025-26, ensuring that farmers have seamless access to these fertilizers at affordable prices.
