Preparations extended late into Friday night in various local markets, including those selling electronics, utensils, and bullion.
Shops, ranging from utensil retailers to two-wheeler and four-wheeler showrooms, were illuminated and embellished with celebratory decorations. The electronics sector sparkled with vibrant lights, enhancing the Diwali atmosphere.
The utensil market on Lohai Road buzzed with activity late into the night as customers explored a diverse array of products. Retailers reported an impressive influx of shoppers and stable sales.
Utensil seller Ashok Kumar Bajpai mentioned, “Our market is fully adorned, and we anticipate a lucrative business this time around. There’s a significant demand for lightweight utensils.”
Idols of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi are also in high demand, with a specially decorated store featuring idols priced between Rs 100 and Rs 25,000 attracting considerable interest.
Bunty, a vendor with 25 years of experience, commented, “Due to the recent floods, pricier idols are not moving as well this year.”
Another merchant offered idols ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 15,000 and expressed optimism for a prosperous festive season.
Bike showrooms also experienced heightened demand, with numerous customers pre-ordering vehicles for Dhanteras. Preparations at various showrooms, including TVS and Hero, continued into the night.
Hariom Sharma, a manager at the TVS showroom, reported, “We’ve pre-booked around 125 bikes for Dhanteras. The GST reduction has positively influenced sales, and we project to sell about 250 vehicles.”
The agency owner estimated sales of TVS bikes to reach nearly Rs 2 crore in the district.
Similarly, the Hero bike agency manager expected to sell around 150 bikes on Saturday.
“People are purchasing bikes in significant numbers, and the GST reduction has boosted sales,” he stated.
A utensils merchant added, “This year, there is a tremendous demand for various types of utensils. I anticipate earning Rs 1 lakh or more throughout the day.”
